L'Oreal Lingering Mocha

I was flipping ( sorta' ) through the current issue of ELLE magazine and a little something caught my eye. I am still trying to find a lipstick that I can just grab and put on without a mirror. You have one I bet. You know that kind of lip color that will work no matter what you are wearing. A perfect my lip color, but better kind of color. Nude but not chalky or ashy. I saw this color and it looked perfect. I thought maybe the color in the magazine was just a bit too red and maybe it would be different in person. I found it it Target and it did look a bit spicy. They should have called it Spiced Mocha. I thought I would give it a try anyway.

                                                             "Spiced Mocha" Right?

This is the lip color worn by Uma Thurman for her ELLE cover shoot

On my hand it looks mauve, spicy mauve

It goes on smooth. There is very little slip, but as it wears it can feel a bit dry. It does not look particularly dry, but it feels that way on my lips. If you like a glossy finish this may not appeal to you. I used Hover Lip liner, by Mac.
 Lip gloss: Natural by NYX

My lips tend to feel dry so the semi matte finish bothers me. It looks great but just feels as though it's drying my lips out. I even use a lip balm before I applied the pencil and lip color. Love the color! and I have been reaching for it a lot as I'm running out the door!

A Long Time Coming

My goodness, I really did not intend for this to happen. Why on earth did it take this long to post the pictures from my Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango post? ...........eeeerh, I don't know. So here they are.

I do wear the lipstick as blush, on occasion, still love the eyeshadow palette and blushes. The only dud was the lip gloss. The glitter in it was just so chunky. Overall, I really liked this collection and now there is another palette out by Sephora that I want the Shades of Nature eyeshadow palette. TTFN!

Sephora + Pantone Tangerine Tango Swatches

scallop shell,carnelian,pavement,sparrow

Let's start with the eyeshadow, all the shadows have varying amounts of shimmer. They are all very smooth, blendable, and buildable. They are on the sheer side, but I do not feel it has anything to do with the quality of the shadow. I love the fact that the tangerine color is paired with an otherwise neutral palette.

Cheeks! My favorite. I love the lift this color gives to my cheeks. The blushers are very pigmented. I have to use a duo fiber brush so I don't pick up too much product. Be careful because the color moves around when it is swiped with your brush. Both colors are very pretty. Desert Flower has more shimmer than the matte Coral. As I said, they really add a bright glow to the cheeks! The highlighter, Apricot Brandy is a very nice color. You can use it on face and body. It's a pretty color, but I'm not wowed by it.

You certainly must be brave to wear this color. I have tried them, but have not worn them out yet. They are very bright, especially the gloss. I don't care for the texture of this. It is almost too thick. Sort of like a liquid lipstick. It has a sponge tip applicator that just pushes the product around and delivers an uneven application. They should have used a doe foot. I had to use my fingers and pat the color onto my lips. It is VERY glittery. I'm not very fond of glitter on my lips. It does have staying power. I got about 4- 5 hours out of it. That is good for me. The gloss is thick without being overly sticky. The lipstick is very smooth. It goes on more sheer than it appears in the tube, but it is still bright. It feels good on my lips, which tend to be very dry. It did not make my lips peel. I like the lipstick so much that I want to check out  other lip colors of the Sephora brand next time I'm in the store!

I forgot to swatch and photograph the eyeliner. Silly me. I'll get right on that. The pencil is very smooth. It has great color payoff and stays put on my oily lids. I used it as an eyeshadow base and as a line of color over black winged liner. That's it for now.

Sephora Pantone Color of the Year

Went to visit my local Sephora the other day. I really wanted to take a look at the collaboration between Sephora and Pantone. The color of the year is Tangerine Tango. The color is seen in the fashion and interior design world. How would it translate into the beauty world. Had to take a look.

I swiped the blush and the highlighter. They are very pigmented, kinda scary, but they blend out to a very soft wash of orange. Very pretty, but full of shimmer. I am an oily girl and I usually run from glitter and shimmer. So my curiosity took hold of me and I purchased the full collection. I was lovin' the eyelashes and the nail color, but I'll save that for later.

Sephora and Origins

Did you get yours? I'm sure you still have time. I wanted to try Starting Over. It's a hydrating moisturizer and I find that my aging skin needs that. I am still very oily, but I find my skin to be dehydrated often. I know my tea consumption doesn't help, so let's see if this helps.
I got mine! Happy Earth Day!

Green Envy

I am not one for funky nail color. I like my french manicure, my pale nudes, pink even. I mean, my nail lady often yells at me saying " That not color!" I know, I'm boring like that. For me it's either neutral nails or dark nails, so I can not explain what possessed me to buy this color from essie. I saw it and I just had to have it. I love this color green on my nails. It just works with my skin tone. I have on about three coats and topped it with a top coat. It lasted for a week and actually would have lasted longer but I had to change the color because it doesn't work with everything.

Don't ya just love this color!!

New Beauty Test Tube

I have been super curious about the concept and the magazine for some time. I was really excited to receive my first one! This is for the month of February. I got mine from QVC for just under $30. I have not tried any of these products yet, although  I have had samples of some of these before, like the Exfolikate intensive exfoliating treatment from Kate Somerville and the Field of flowers body lotion and shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath by philosophy. I love the Kate Somerville product but it is too expensive in the full size, so I am happy to have this .5 fl. oz sample. As you know I am a philosophy girl so I have used and still have many lotions and potions by philosophy. I am very excited to try the Truth Serum by Ole Henriksen. It's a collagen booster with vitamin c complex. I will try anything to hydrate my skin. Especially now that I am living in a cold climate.

I have heard good things about the volumizing mascara by mally. I have tried her brow powder and black cake liner in the past. I do like her products, but her packaging is blah.

All the way in the back is the emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner in plum by tarte. Have heard that it is super soft. I hope it is waterproof. We will see. I'm not sure if this is a full size sample. It is .1g or .003oz of product.

I will bury my nose in the magazine over the next couple of days and report back in another post. Have a great weekend!

Wet N Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow

Happy New Year! This is my first blog post of the new year. Well, on this blog anyway. I have been super busy trying to keep hope alive. Since I have to be fugal with my makeup budget, I have been trying to find out how low I can go and still get good quality makeup. I've got the mascara bit all figured out. I do not need to spend over $10, even $5 for mascara. I was curious about the wet n wild eyeshadows. I think they were around $3, or less. I purchased #334 I'm Getting Sunburned and #335 Silent Treatment.

I'm Getting Sunburned instantly caught my eye.

The middle color is beautiful  in the pan. It is a dark brown with red and bronze shimmer.  Love the copper gold color. Pink highlight was a bonus. All three have great color payoff. Unfortunately you can not appreciate the depth of color and interest of the dark brown shade. It goes on the lid very flat and dark brown. It's a great color but it is more interesting in the pan than on the lid. The pink has too much shimmer for my liking. The gold, or copper color is nice, just nice, but I like it.

I thought that the silent treatment was a bit uninspiring in the pan, but it was a decent neutral palette. I find that I reach for this way more often than the other. I was pleasantly surprised by all of these shades. Again, all three shades have great color payoff. They all last all day ( at least 10hrs. ) with or without a primer. Love the browbone color because it has just a hint of shimmer. It isn't too flat and it isn't too frosty. I use the crease color along my upper lash line. The lid color on the inner portion of my lids and then I blend it out with a color from an old Chanel palette

I will certainly give the rest of their shadows a look see. So far Wet n Wild cosmetics has a lot to offer the budget conscious shopper. What a pleasant surprise. I think I would like to try their lip products next!
